FAQ

How long will it take to fit my extensions?

This will depend on the look you want and the amount if extensions that achieve it. On average a thickening process can take about an hour. A full head, for a longer look, can take 2 to 3 hours. You will be advised of timings and cost at your consultation. Click Here to see which methods are used.

Will people know I am wearing extensions?

Extensions will look totally natural as long as you choose an appropriate style and a colour that matches your own. It is recommended that your hair is long enough on the top layer to cover the bonds.  The longer the better!  If your hair is less than 3 inches, your own hair will be less likely to fall in with the extensions for a seamless look. It is also recommended that you do not fit extensions more than twice your natural hair length. This causes the hair to look less natural.  If you follow this advice, nobody need ever know, except yourself and perhaps that special person you allow to run their fingers through your hair!

How does it look so natural?

Each extension strand is selected to match your personal colour. It is possible to blend-in both highlights and lowlights to each head of hair we work with.  The result is that each head has the same reflective properties, and depth of tones, as any head of natural hair. This is premium quality human hair and as such, will have the same texture and appearance as yours. It may even be in better condition than your existing hair! The hair can be straightened, waved or curled to give the same natural movement as your own hair.

How long will extensions last?

Your extensions should easily last 3 months.  With proper care and attention, they can last much longer, due to the quality of the hair we use.  Micro ring hair can be reapplied more easily than fusion bond hair. To ensure your extensions are properly looked after and maintained you will be given a care leaflet when you have your extension appointment. You will need to have a maintenance appointment after 4 to 6 weeks to check the hair is in tip top condition and ensure bonds are intact. This maintenance will certainly improve the life of your extensions.

Will extensions damage my hair?

There is virtually no reason why extensions that are fitted properly by our professionally trained and certificated staff should damage your hair. Thousands of women have used extensions to enhance their own hair while growing it to a desired length with no adverse affects. Micro ring hair is especially kind if you are trying to grow your hair, as no heat is applied when fitting. Moving the rings up, as your hair grows, is more straightforward with this method.

The safety of your own hair is of paramount importance to us and we take every reasonable precaution to ascertain the suitability of your own hair before commencing installation of your extensions. This includes the offer of a free consultation before fitting.

It is completely naturally to shed hair. Everyone does whether they wear extensions or not. If you look at your own hair brush you will see that we shed on average up to 100 hairs per day. This adds up to 3000 a month or 36,000 a year! This may seem a lot but we have between 100,000 to 150,000 on our heads at one time so this is a natural renewal rate.

Can I just add highlights?

Yes! It is possible to try out the effects of highlights or lowlights through your hair, without the need to add chemicals. If you want to try something less subtle and more dramatic, this will allow you to do so without a permanent effect. You are limited only by your imagination! No harmful dyes or solutions are applied to your hair so you can be as brave as you dare.

Will I need to give my hair a rest between extensions?

As long as your extensions are professionally applied and removed there is no need. Lots of our clients love their extensions so much they don't ever like to be without them and have them reapplied the same day. However, you must keep in mind that you need to allow enough time for removal and then a refit.

Can I reuse the hair or will it need to be renewed each time?

It is possible to fit the same hair again if it has been well looked after. Most people however like to have a whole new set that feels amazing and silky. It also takes slightly less time to apply new hair as it is ready prepared for the fitting process. You've invested in these extensions! Remember to treat your ultimate accessory with respect.  If you use heat protection, condition regularly and handle them gently when brushing, they will last longer.

Can I bathe, swim and go out in wind and rain?

It is completely possible to get these wet, swim, bathe or go out in bad weather without the extensions falling out as they are so well attached. However, when swimming it is advisable to tie hair back as it is very long and can cause a hazard and is less likely to tanglethis way. Always tie hair in a high bun or plait when swimming in salt water and shampoo and condition afterwards.

What happens if I don't like my new extensions?

This has not happened yet! If it ever did, you should always have them removed by a qualified technician. They are designed to stay put. As such, they will need to be removed properly with care by your technician.

What happens when extensions are removed?
Micro rings are quite straight forward to remove and require no solutions to be applied.  For fusion bonds, a gentle solution is applied to each bond in turn, to gently soften it. Your technician will bend the bond to break the seal and remove any keratin residue, without damaging your own hair. If you try to force extensions out yourself,  or have somone else remove them, you will not be able to give them the same care and attention that we do, to ensure they are removed without any stress to your hair.

Do I need expensive shampoos and conditioners?

Most shampoos and conditioners should be fine to use on extensions. It is advisable to avoid shampoos that contain protein or fruit acids.  Avoid conditioners that are oily. The oils will soften your bonds. The bonds are made of a similar substance to natural protein. What would make your own hair and nails softer will make the bonds softer as a result. Therefore, hold hair in a pony tail and condition the ends by applying the condiioner to your hand first, avoiding the root and scalp area. It's that simple! Remember though, that the hair is not attached to your scalp, and as such will not be "fed" unless you condition it.
